There's something tranquil about freshly fallen snow and the quiet beauty it brings to a landscape. Many here in Seattle are starting to grumble about the staying power of this recent storm. But I remain pleased to have the rare treat of a real "White Christmas" in the Pacific Northwest

Snow Falling on Seattle
Now this is Christmas! I can't help but be a little giddy about the blanket of snow Seattle has received in the last week. My hometown in Montana hadn't seen this much in such a short time in quite awhile.
I do worry about all the new plantings however. There were even some tender shoots I'd spied at the corner of the catwalk a week or so before the fluffy stuff arrived. We'll just have to see how everything comes through.

Winter Activity
Bird watching has not been on my list of winter activities, but a frequent visitor to our newly renovated backyard has me on the lookout. This hawk delights in perching in the naked Big Leaf Maples for a grand view of activity below.
