This weekend was absolutely gorgeous, allowing me hours of time in the garden for some much needed cleanup. Much of the time was spent weeding and pulling grass that never stops appearing. And thanks to the big guy, most of the front beds are well mulched. Today I dedicated to filling out the catwalk border. The last of the tulips are nearing their end and there were still some major gaps. I transplanted a bunch of Iris that weren't being fully appreciated on the side of the house. They were starting to crowd each other out and should enjoy the break up. I also tucked in some strawberry plants for the little guy and others to snack on when taking a seat on the ledge.
I did manage to squeeze time in for some planting. Wooly time between the pavers around the deck, variegated hebe, coreopsis. Some dahlia bulbs also finally found their way in the ground, along with trillium that had given up and was sprouting still in the bag. Unfortunately after all that work, I was too tired to take photos so I'll have to share later. In my cleaning I spotted lots of things blooming that I hadn't yet noticed. The reward for such a productive weekend was more fresh veggies from the garden, including the first of our radishes. They were somewhat sweet with a little spicy kick. Delicious.

What a wonderful transformation in your before and after photos! Your garden looks delightful.
I love seeing photos of how people have changed their garden from when they first moved there.
(Since you explained to me what 'parking strip' means, I have noticed a few more here in the UK. A lot are just grass and maintained by the council, but some people have taken them over as gardens).
What an encouraging post! I should plant radishes again. It's so nice to see a child enjoying a garden - I certainly didn't I'm afraid. But the biggest thing was the pictures of your house. Wow, that really is impressive!
Your home and yard is lovely. I love seeing the before and after pics. What a sweet garden helper you have! My husband loves radishes and yours look so healthy. Sounds like you had a good weekend.

I love before and after shots and I must say WOW! You have done so much in the curb appeal category. Your yard looks amazing and I love the color you planted the house. It really allows the plants to show it off!
Great before and after shots, you have done a lot of work and it's is pretty!! Love the big little helper..

Your pictures are lovely, Melanthia. What a beautiful garden. It's always so wonderful to look at before and after photos, and admire all of your hard work. Thank you for sharing.
Damn! That then-and-now comparison is truly impressive. Wow. And you have a lot of comments--looks like your blog is really popular! Good for you! Congratulations on all your hard work. I'll come by this summer so I can check it out for myself!
It looks really nice. I love your before and after pictures. What a huge difference, the former owners probably wouldn't recognize it!
It was great weather for gardening this weekend wasn't it?
WHOA!!!!!! What a difference you have made. Your house looks amazing. All that hard work has paid off
Oh, that is the best before/after comparison I've seen in a looooong time! You really have made a big change for the better. I hope your neighbors appreciate it! :) Never heard of a hose pot before but I think I need one. Make that two!
PS Funny about the chives, I feel like the street plantings are pretty hot but who knows, our upper level is definitely cooler at least in winter than down the hill a bit.
Leek recipes - remind me before next SAGBUTT and I'll try to copy you a few. Really good 3-onion risotto and a kind of improvised leek/potato soup with fresh dill.
We should go to bed huh, it's past midnight!?!
