We meet again ...

Months have passed since I last wrote, and it seems even longer since I've been in the garden. Luscious hues of butter cream and deep red have given way to fall's crackling oranges and fading yellows. Now more than ever I yearn to be in the garden, but demands of a growing family often win out.
Echinacea 'Big Sky' is still a hot spot in our backyard garden. Many of the blooms have been pinched by Big Brother and brought to Mama with a boisterous rendition of "Happy Birthday."
My photo portfolio is sadly lacking shots of the garden, so I thought I'd share a pic of one of our hens, Foo Foo. She's a 7-month-old Wyandotte who until the last couple weeks had been treating us to an egg a day. Shorter days are surely the culprit for her egg laying reduction, although I can't but wonder if she misses Beaker, our rooster we sent to live with Molly from Life on Tiger Mountain.
