I remember as a kid the peas never made it to the table! So good that he loves that yummy freshness- he'll never be able to eat frozen or canned knowing so young what they are supposed to taste like! Happy gardening to you :)

Like Suzanne's, none of my peas have made it into the house yet either, except there are no little ones here who are responsible! ;) Yum!

My girls weren't big vegetable-eaters when they were little, except when it came to the veggies they picked themselves from the garden. I'm convinced they learned to like vegetables because they got to watch them grow and could pick them themselves. As they got a little older they would eat them during meals, but there was a time when the only veggies they ate came right off the plants, still warm from the sun.

They are so wonderful fresh off the vine. I had but a handful from the few sugar snaps I planted this year but they were delicious. The birds got the ones I forgot about that got too big.

There is something very special about eating stuff straight from the garden. It is a very primal instinct to forage and eat. I experienced this as a child, now look what happened. I hope for you that you have inspired your children to do the same!
