Hi Gardeness, I was thinking I hadn't seen posts from you for awhile, so I came to check where I left off. I see you haven't posted for awhile. I keep thinking I should take a blogging break to see if I get my house clean, but so far, haven't. I hope you are well.

You sure had a good looking pumpkin and watermelon. I grew a couple hills of winter squash this year, and got 3 squashes, but 2 did not ripen.

I have been harvesting some lettuce and greens that planted themselves. It's supposed to get down to 26 tomorrow night. I don't know if they'll make it through that.

It sounds like you did a great job with fall plantings, and even got cover crops in. I wish I had gotten to that.

Great update!! I think eggplant is a must for me to plant next year. Love the small graceful variety there. We just got some garlic planted too. My neighbors who have our co-op garden like to overwinter with a sort of modified oats as a cover crop. They tried vetch last year but found that it was so very fibrous that it clogged up their rototiller in spring! That's pretty tough stuff. But great for replenishing the soil. I've missed your posts. I swear your volunteer pumpkin looks almost too perfect, not an easy feat. When I grew them there were always blemishes. You should be proud. And the watermelon and carrots, fabulous. Thank you for mentioning that you sowed arugula and other greens. I'm going to do this tomorrow. It completely slipped my mind.
