I'd guess a pear tree for the first photo, too. I noticed that the pears around our neighborhood flower before many of the leaves show up, but my Spring Snow crabapples send out flowers and lush leaves together. I don't see many leaves amongst those white flowers.

Great views from your windows! The first tree we planted here was a Weeping Cherry! It's fun to look back at what a twig it was over 10 years ago and how much it's grown since.
I pruned our apple about a month or so ago. I've read it's best to prune them in the winter, so I'm not sure if it's too late now.

Yes, the weather is icky but I'm trying to console myself by thinking that it might be good for the snowpack and maybe will help to avoid a drought this summer! Nice to see that you still have fun stuff to look at even from inside on a dreary day. Hope the cold snap didn't do any damage to your plants!

You are way ahead of us here in MA, I just went out yesterday to cut back the old peopny stalks of yesteryear, and my hell's bell's (as I like to call them) have not begun to show yet either. Two of my favorite garden plants, I really enjoyed the photographs of what we all have to look forward to as Spring nears.

I think they are further ahead than the shorter ones, but I don't have one so am not sure what they look like as they emerge. Cool! Crazy about the sort-of snow after the 60 degree days, huh?!!

I think that pansy might be 'Ultima Morpho' - do you know if it is? My mom gave me some of that name that look very similar, and they still reseed in my parking strip many years later. So nice! I am a sucker for pansies and violas but don't go out of my way to plant them. They must appeal to kids on a tactile level too, so soft and velvety.

Yes, we see the bare spots and such, while others' eyes are drawn to what looks good. Your beds look great to me. I bet when summer comes, there will be even more going on. I frequently put annuals in bare spots.

I am tired of the way some of my areas look, and plan to do a lot of moving things around.

It looks like we've made it through another winter. Your blooms and new growth are a welcome sight. I love pansies because they have such a long bloom time for me, and because of their early spring blooms.
